We are using Chris Bishop's new book, Pattern
Recognition and Machine Learning for
this course. As this is a new book, there is already an errata
page. I expect to
cover the following material: Chapters 1-6, 7 (partial), 9 & 12.
This includes
- Probability distributions
- Linear regression
- Linear classifiers
- Neural networks
- Kernel methods
- SVM’s
- Mixture models & Expectation-Maximization
- PCA, ICA, Auto-associators (Deep belief networks)
