Course Description:
Basic structuring concepts: service, server client-server relations, basic network architecture and point-to-point communication services, variable communication delays and failures, logical and physical time, time services, request/reply transport services, remote procedure calls, naming and directory services, distributed concurrency control, distributed file and database services, transactions and the atomic commit problem, security in distributed systems.
Prerequisites:
CSE 221 or consent of instructor
