The CSE Debit Union (DU) is a voluntary association of CSE graduate
students that allows its members to use
the copy machines operated by UCSD
graphics, which require authorized university ID cards.
The CSE department has granted graduate students the ability to
authorize our ID cards provided we can pay for all the copies we make.
That's where the DU Copy Account comes in. For each member with a Copy
Account, the DU will track that member's usage on a
monthly basis, present him/her with a balance statement, and collect
payment.
Since copy
machine usage is unpredicatable, we do allow users to accumulate a debit
balance, but expect significant balances to be paid promptly.
If the DU is ever unable to pay the department for all the
copies made, EVERYONE will lose their copier privileges.
To ensure
that this never happens, the DU needs a reserve of funds.
We ask everyone
to make a ten dollar refundable deposit to join the coop. This deposit is
not included in the monthly account balance; it is considered a
refundable security deposit.
In addition, we
charge a small mark-up over the base cost of copies in order to build a
reserve. Current cost of copies is approximately 5 cents apiece. When your association with the DU ends, your card access will be
deactivated. Your deposit will be refunded at the end of the month
following this deactivation, upon confirmation that you have paid for all
the copies made using your card and the access number you were assigned.
I have read the above and I agree to pay for all
charges arising from the use of my card and access number. I will stop
using my card to make copies if so requested by the CSE Debit Union or the
CSE department.
