Scott R. Kohn received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, and computer science from the University of Wisconsin---Madison in 1990 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), in 1992 and 1995. He was awarded a 1995 NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Science and Engineering and is currently working in the Department of Chemistry at UCSD on the development of numerical methods and software support for advanced materials design applications. His research interests are in the area of scientific computation, including numerical methods for adaptive and irregular problems, programming abstractions, and high-performance computer architectures.
