Course Information

The purpose of this class is to undertake individual or small-group projects in the area of cryptography and information security with the goal of giving the students a research experience. Projects can be either theoretical or implementation based. Students requirements are The report is due Friday June 6, 2008, by 4PM. You can either hand it to me, or slip it under the door of my office (EBU3B 4244) at any time prior to this due time. The presentations will be scheduled in lecture slots at the end of the quarter.

I will spend some lecture time discussing possible projects, but you are also encouraged to come up with your own.

This class is for people who have a genuine interest in the material, a desire to do some hands-on work, and a desire to learn what kinds of opportunities are available for further studies, such as in graduate school. You get experience in doing projects and research. A good performance in this class can lead to a good letter of recommendation from the instructor for graduate school, and very good projects could result in publications.
